Scott Jones

Lead Vocals & Founder


Born in Garland, Texas, Scott Jones discovered his passion for music at an early age, singing along to the radio and performing in his school choir.


After high school, he stepped away from the stage to compete in rodeo, earning a place at the Texas High School State Finals in 1985.


In the early 1990s, Scott returned to music, forming the ROCK band Six Gun before going on to front the nationally touring rock band Double Cross. After several years on the road, he shifted back to his country roots, leading Dallas-based cover bands Haywire and Swift Justice.


In 2019, longtime collaborator David Simpson suggested creating an Alan Jackson tribute band and Gone Country was born. Today, he serves as lead vocalist and founder of one of Texas’s premier Alan Jackson tribute acts, honoring the legacy of traditional country music and bringing it to audiences across the region.

David Simpson

Lead Guitar / Vocals / Co-Founder


A native of Garland, Texas, and longtime resident of Lavon, David Simpson is a co-founder of Gone Country and a cornerstone of the North Texas music scene for more than two decades.


Known for his smooth tone, tasteful phrasing, and seasoned stage presence, David has performed alongside respected country artists including Neal McCoy, Aaron Watson, and Jerrod Niemann.


David is the original creative force behind Gone Country, conceiving the vision for a top-tier Alan Jackson tribute and inviting Scott Jones to serve as frontman and lead vocalist. As a true “Day One” member, he continues to shape the sound, direction, and musical integrity of the band.


Despite his veteran status, David remains a lifelong student of the craft, often saying he’s “still learning to play”—a mindset that reflects his dedication to musicianship and to preserving the heart of traditional country music.

Mike Wagner

Fiddle / Multi-Instrumentalist


Born in Dallas, Texas, Mike Wagner comes from a musical family and has been immersed in music since childhood. He began playing guitar at age nine and discovered the fiddle at nineteen, quickly making it his primary instrument.


Over the years, Mike has also mastered guitar, mandolin, and pedal steel, developing a versatile style rooted in classic country and Texas swing.


A seasoned performer across North Texas, Mike has opened for numerous country legends including Hank Thompson, Mark Chesnutt, Gene Watson, Moe Bandy, Johnny Lee, Johnny Rodriguez, Johnny Bush, Wade Bowen, and many others. His influences include iconic fiddlers Johnny Gimble and Benny Thomasson, along with renowned guitar and steel players who shaped traditional country music.


As the fiddle player for Gone Country, Mike brings decades of experience, rich tone, and deep respect for tradition—helping deliver an authentic Alan Jackson tribute and the unmistakable sound of true Texas country.

David Alexander

Steel Guitar / Dobro


Originally from Durant, Oklahoma, David Alexander brings more than four decades of experience to the stage. Taught guitar by his mother, he developed an early passion for story-driven country music, eventually finding his voice on steel guitar and dobro—where his sound has been shaped by years of dedication to traditional country.


David’s career has taken him across the country performing and touring full-time with notable artists including Johnny Lee, Ty England, Doug Stone, Josh Ward, and Ricochet.


David is Known for his smooth tone, musical restraint, and deep respect for the genre.  he delivers the warmth and twang that define classic country music.


Joining Gone Country in 2022, David’s soulful steel and dobro work have become a key part of the band’s authentic Alan Jackson tribute, capturing the emotion and timeless sound audiences expect and love.

Trey Pope

Piano / Keyboards


Hailing from Weatherford, Texas, and a longtime resident of Arlington, Trey Pope has been performing on Texas stages since 1988. A true honky-tonk piano player, Trey plays almost entirely by ear, giving his style a natural swing, soulful feel, and deep connection to traditional country music.


Over the years, Trey has performed with and opened for respected country artists including John Conlee, Josh Ward, Shenandoah, Ella Langley, and Josh Turner. His experience, musical intuition, and command of classic country piano make him a valued contributor to every project he’s part of.


Joining Gone Country in the fall of 2022, Trey adds the unmistakable honky-tonk flavor that anchors the band’s authentic Alan Jackson tribute—bringing heart, soul, and Texas swagger to every performance.

Steve Oldridge

Bass / Backup Vocals


Born in Canada and educated in Europe before attending the University of Texas, Steve Oldridge has spent a lifetime immersed in music. His early experience spans orchestral performance, DJ work, rock, and country bands.  Steve was influenced by artists such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.


After years performing as a guitarist in the Dallas–Fort Worth rock scene, Steve transitioned to bass in 2011, quickly becoming a regular presence in North Texas country music. He has performed at notable venues including Billy Bob’s Texas, Rodeo Exchange, and Southern Junction.


In addition to performing, Steve brings extensive experience as a live sound engineer, running production for festivals, touring acts, churches, and major venues across Texas.

As bassist and backup vocalist for Gone Country, Steve combines technical expertise and musical intuition to help deliver the authentic, timeless sound of a true Alan Jackson tribute.

Carol Jones

Backup Vocals


Carol Jones brings heart, energy, and organization to Gone Country, playing a vital role both on and off the stage. A lifelong lover of music and live concerts from lubock TX, Carol always dreamed of being part of a band—and that dream became reality after meeting Scott Jones at The Lava Cantina in 2019. The two were married in 2022, forming a partnership that extends seamlessly into the band.


While Carol did not come from a traditional musical background, her natural presence, dedication, and connection with the audience have made her an essential part of Gone Country’s live experience.


As a backup vocalist, she adds warmth and balance to the band’s signature sound, and on gig days she is instrumental in keeping everything running smoothly—helping coordinate stage setup, merchandise, and logistics.


Carol is a constant source of inspiration to audiences, especially women, who connect with her authenticity and enthusiasm. Behind the scenes and under the lights, her support and leadership are indispensable. Simply put, Gone Country would not be what it is today without Carol.

Rex Johnson

Drums / Percussion


From Chico, Texas, Rex Johnson grew up in a family deeply rooted in country music, surrounded by rhythm and melody from an early age. He found his calling behind the drums, developing a style that is both steady and full of heart.


Performing professionally since 1997, Rex has played throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area and beyond, earning a reputation for tight timing, strong musical instinct, and dependable energy. His experience spans a wide range of settings, from honky-tonk dance halls to large festival stages.


After being recommended for a sub gig with Gone Country 2023, Rex quickly proved to be the right fit.  He has been a solid member ever since, anchoring the band’s authentic Alan Jackson tribute with the kind of groove that keeps crowds moving from the first note to the last.
